Dear Younger Self

If you could go back in time and give your younger self advice, what would it be?

If I could travel back in time and give my younger self advice I would have a lot to say. But instead of talking, at first I would listen. Listen to everything little me had to say. Then I would hold her tight and tell her to read her Bible. I would tell her to seek God in every decision she makes. I would tell her about the loving, kind, understanding God that promises her wonderful things. I would tell her to talk to God like He is her best friend, to ask Him when making hard choices. He will never lead her wrong.

Then again, if this were possible. If I could truly talk to my younger self, I would likely avoid all my wrong choices that taught me so many things. I wouldn’t have the wisdom I do today or the memories that still shape my reality.

I would not be me, stripping myself of my depths and replacing it with something else. Perhaps my faith would not be as strong today if I had never walked through the dark valleys that still try to hold pieces of me captive. Perhaps I would be better off, or perhaps I wouldn’t.
